What it is:
Men on Wine is a new group for gay/bi men in the Palm Springs and the greater Coachella Valley (and their admirers) to enjoy each other’s company while tasting and learning more about various types of wine at monthly tasting events. All ages are welcome, from twinks to gents who may not know much beyond white, rose and red. 😉
Each blind tasting will be focused around one particular varietal — such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Semillon, etc. — in which we’ll first try out six bottles at different price ranges, then pair with light snacks and cheeses, and finally vote on each selection and reveal the labels (and price) behind the bottle. The results might surprise you!
Where it is:
Most tastings will be hosted at a private home in or close to Palm Springs and will be generally limited up to 12 people. Wines would generally be sourced locally (i.e., CostPlus, Trader Joe’s, Costco, BevMo or my favorite for variety, Total Wine in Palm Desert) so event attendees could pick up wines they like.
How much it is:
Cost will depend on the varietal chosen, but generally would range from $15 to $30 per person.
